Gluten Free Tip:

When going gluten free you can go more to the gluten free grains such as millet, amaranth, teff, quinoa, rice and serve hot either for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A rice cooker can simplify the cooking process. If you choose one with a timer you can easily set for the night before to cook in the morning and then awaken to a hot breakfast. In general 1 cup of grain to 2 cups of water. Then add cinnamon, nuts , seeds , honey or maple syrup to add additional flavours

What to look for

Correct size for your family
Tight seal around lid so when the cooking process starts the steaming process does not leak outside the lid and thus make a messy counter around it.
Timer if you wish to set for a certain time for the items to be cooked for

1. Zojirushi-one of the best ones as it has a timer ( ie set for night before for it to cook in morning and you will wake with a hot breakfast ) this is a smaller version

3. National -rice cooker with timer ( I have this one) You can buy in most oriental grocery stores

4. Black and Decker-Very Simple version can be bought anywhere ie CTire, Walmart and is inexpensive
